Rats Fall Short on Opening Day

Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Maunesha River Rats fell to Johnson Creek Mapaches 18-10 on Thursday.


The Maunesha River Rats struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Johnson Creek Mapaches, giving up 18 runs.


Maunesha River Rats tallied five runs in the ninth inning. Brevin Brisack, Trevor Jackson, Lou Martineau, and Justin Hudson each drove in runs during the inning.


Johnson Creek Mapaches scored five runs in the fifth inning. Johnson Creek Mapaches batters contributing to the big inning included Cooper Morrsion and Alex Mielcarz, who all drove in runs.


Cole Lambird got the win for Johnson Creek Mapaches. The lefthander allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Jake Williams, Scott Henrich, and Will Staviski all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Staviski recorded the last out to earn the save for Johnson Creek Mapaches.


Ryuya Kato took the loss for Maunesha River Rats. Kato went three innings, allowing ten runs on seven hits and striking out two.


Kyle Jungers started the game for Maunesha River Rats. The pitcher surrendered six runs on seven hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking zero


Maunesha River Rats collected 11 hits. Gabe Wendt, Hudson, and Justin Fago each racked up multiple hits for Maunesha River Rats. Hudson and Wendt each collected three hits to lead Maunesha River Rats.


Johnson Creek Mapaches tallied 16 hits. Noah Harris, Carter Borcherding, Justin Swanson, Mielcarz, and Henry Pitsch all managed multiple hits for Johnson Creek Mapaches. Harris went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead Johnson Creek Mapaches in hits.
